Cleveland City Council Withdraws Objection to Lucy’s Ethiopian Restaurant & Bar Liquor Permit

Cleveland City Council has moved to support the liquor permit renewal for Lucy’s Ethiopian Restaurant & Bar, located at 2218 Broadview Road. Through Emergency Resolution 772-2026, the Council has officially withdrawn its previous opposition to the establishment's D5 and D6 liquor permits, allowing the business to proceed with its renewal process.

The restaurant, operated by IBEX Transportation, LLC, had previously been the subject of an objection under Resolution No. 943-2025, which was adopted by the Council on August 13, 2025. According to the 772-2026-FOR ADOPTION-WITHDRAW-RENEWAL-2218 Broadview Road-Ward 4 document, the new resolution repeals that prior objection and expresses the Council's consent to the immediate permit. This emergency measure was introduced by Council Member Harsh to facilitate the usual daily operations related to the permit.

Resolution 772-2026 has passed. As an emergency measure, its effectiveness depends on receiving a two-thirds affirmative vote from all elected Council members and subsequent approval by the Mayor.
