Cleveland Approves New Labor Agreement for Stagehands

Cleveland City Council has passed an emergency ordinance to approve a new collective bargaining agreement with the International Alliance of Theater and Stage Employees (IATSE Local 27), representing one full-time and 20 casual employees. This agreement, processed under File No. 757-2026, also updates salary classifications by amending Section 47 of Ordinance No. 194-2021. According to the 757-2026-A File-Ratify CBA lATSE and amend sec 47 of payband, the contract covers the period from April 1, 2025, through March 31, 2028. The agreement includes a 3% base wage increase for each year of the contract. For full-time stagehands, rates are set at $39.56 for April 2025, $40.75 for April 2026, and $41.97 for April 2027. Casual stagehands will see rates of $37.97, $39.11, and $40.28 for those same years. Additionally, the contract modifies vacation accrual so that employees receive two weeks of vacation after 30 days and three weeks after five years. The agreement also introduces a clause regarding increased City health insurance contributions in 2026 and 2027 and streamlines disciplinary procedures by requiring pre-disciplinary hearings only when discipline results in a loss of pay.
