Walk for Unity 5K Receives City Approval for October Event

Cleveland residents can prepare for the upcoming Walk for Unity 5K, which has officially received city approval to take place on October 11, 2026. Managed by Hermes Sports & Events, the event is authorized through emergency ordinance 742-2026, which grants the necessary permits for the race to proceed.

According to 742-2026-FOR PASSAGE-Walk for Unity 5k 10.11.2026 Ord., the route is scheduled to begin and end in front of the Transplant House at 2029 East 115th Street. Participants will travel from the starting point, turn left on Mayfield Road, continue onto Ford Drive, turn right on East Boulevard, and then turn right onto Martin Luther King Jr. Drive before turning around to complete the loop. The ordinance notes that the Chief of Police and safety forces may determine street closures as needed to protect those participating in the event. The legislation also stipulates that the permit is subject to the sponsor meeting all requirements of the Codified Ordinances of Cleveland and ensuring the City is indemnified from liability.
