Increased Funding Approved for City-Wide Youth Football Program
Cleveland is moving forward with expanded support for local youth sports through an updated agreement with the Cleveland Muni Football League. City Council has passed emergency legislation, identified as Ord. No. 741-2026, to modify a previous contract and ensure the continuation of a city-wide youth football program. This program provides organized football and cheerleading opportunities for children, typically serving ages 6 to 14 Cleveland Muny Football League (@clevelandmuny).
According to 741-2026-FOR PASSAGE-Ord. 618-2026 amendment rev, the amendment increases the authorized funding for the contract with the Northeast Ohio Muni Football League (also known as the Cleveland Municipal Football Association doing business as Cleveland Muni Football League). The updated ordinance authorizes the Director of Parks and Recreation to pay fees not to exceed $258,000, an increase from the $160,000 limit established in the original Ordinance No. 618-2026. These funds are designated to come from Fund Nos. 01-4503-6380, 10-166, and 10-188 to facilitate the city-wide program.
