Cleveland Airports to Extend Parking Management Services

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and Burke Lakefront Airport will maintain their current parking management and shuttle services through a new legislative extension. City Council has passed emergency ordinance 597-2026, which allows the Director of Port Control to exercise a five-year renewal option with SP Plus Corporation. This decision ensures that the commercial operations, maintenance, and shuttle bus services at both airports, along with nearby parking lots 9 and 10, continue without interruption.

The extension builds upon an existing agreement, Contract No. PS 2022-030, which was originally established under Ordinance No. 410-2021. According to the 597-2026-Legislative Summary - SP Plus Corporation - Option Term Approval - 042926, the parking program serves as a significant source of non-aeronautical revenue that helps offset operating costs for both airports. The Department of Port Control noted that the renewal is necessary to provide operational certainty and revenue stability. The summary also reports that of the 85 employees associated with this contract, 45 are residents of the City of Cleveland, 52 are minorities, and 21 are women.
