New Energy Improvements Proposed for 629 Euclid Avenue

A new energy improvement project is moving forward for the property located at 629 Euclid Avenue. City Council has passed emergency ordinance 594-2026, which adds this specific location to the Northeast Ohio Advanced Energy District. This move follows a petition from the property owner, 629 Euclid Hotel II LLC, to implement a special energy project designed to benefit the site through updated infrastructure or services.

According to 594-2026- Approving addition of Advanced Energy District for 629 Euclid Hotel II LLC, the project is intended to be conducted over a 23-year period. To fund these improvements, the ordinance allows for special assessments to be placed on the property. These assessments are intended to secure funding advancements from the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority, which will act as the lender under a to-be-negotiated Energy Project Cooperative Agreement. The District itself operates under Chapter 1710 of the Ohio Revised Code, which allows property owners to petition the City to join the district to support such specialized energy projects.

The ordinance has officially passed, and the Director of Development is authorized to enter into the necessary cooperative and assessment agreements to implement the plan.
