Cleveland Updates Vehicle Pound Storage Fees

Cleveland City Council has passed an emergency ordinance to update the storage fees charged at the city's vehicle pound. This change, introduced under File No. 465-2026, amends Section 405.04 of the city's Codified Ordinances to adjust how much residents pay when a vehicle is impounded and held at a police pound.

According to previous versions of the Cleveland Codified Ordinances, the standard storage fee was set at nine dollars for the first five days or fraction thereof, followed by six dollars for each additional day or fraction of a day. The city manages these impoundments through authorized Vehicle Pounds as part of the city's impounding procedures. When a vehicle is impounded, the Cleveland Police typically issue a notice letter to the owner once the vehicle is ready for collection.
