According to the 457-2026-LEGISLATIVE SUMMARY-Intent to Appropriate, the city intends to acquire the 0.88-acre site, which currently holds a vacant retail structure, from the owner of record, Shaker Madison LLC. The decision to move toward appropriation follows two unsuccessful purchase offers made by the city on February 12, 2025, and March 24, 2026. The property has an appraised value of $635,000. Transitioning to this larger site—nearly twice the size of the current 0.45-acre station—will allow for a pull-through apparatus bay design. Officials note this design will improve on-site maneuverability and response times by allowing fire apparatus to exit onto Madison Avenue more efficiently without the need to back in, which currently contributes to traffic congestion.
